909 Society
Seeking to secure the long term sustainability and development of our School, the Board of the Wells Cathedral School Foundation in association with the School Governors has established The Wells 909 Legacy Society. The name reflects the year the school was founded, and can be joined by all who make provision for the school in their will.
A legacy in favour of Wells Cathedral School will provide for the education of children yet to be born. It is an investment in the future others will live.
Members of our legacy society will be presented with a Foundation lapel badge and every year they will be invited to attend an event to honour and thank them - and to welcome new members.
It is hoped that some members will be willing to write about their motivations in making a legacy to the school for publication on the Foundation web site and in the school magazine.
If you would like to discuss including Wells Cathedral School Foundation in your will, please contact Tony Bretherton, CEO.

Jeremy Brade, ChairmanThe first Chairman of the Wells 909 Legacy Society is Jeremy Brade. Jeremy was a pupil at Wells Cathedral School for eight years. After leaving school in 1980 and taking a degree in zoology at St Catherine's College, Oxford, he entered the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst and was commissioned into the Gurkha Rifles. He served for eight years with the Gurkhas worldwide, led a number of expeditions to Africa, the Himalayas and the Arctic, and took part in the 1991 Gulf War. After leaving the Army, Jeremy spent nine years with the Foreign Office serving as the resident peace envoy in Sarajevo during the war of 1992 and 1993, and later for three years as political first secretary at the British High Commission, New Delhi. In 2001 Jeremy embarked on a career in the City and is now Head of Private Equity at J O Hambro Capital Management. Commenting on his appointment as Chairman of "The Wells 909 Legacy Society", Jeremy said: "Wells is an extraordinary place to be educated and creates wonderful, influential opportunities for its pupils. Preserving and progressing this environment requires constant investment. In addition to the immediate funding needs for capital projects, I believe the School must build up a reservoir of wealth that will become a foundation for the future. Leaving a legacy in your will is a tax efficient way of contributing to this future without any impact on your present finances. I am honoured to be asked to be Chairman of the 909 Legacy Society and I look forward to bringing together all those who have generously agreed to support the School's future with a legacy, and encouraging others to join our ranks." |
