The Campaign for Wells Cathedral SchoolIn 2009 Wells Cathedral School celebrated 1,100 years of music and education. To mark this occasion, the Foundation launched a £4.2 million fundraising campaign in support of bursaries, a new classroom block, a new sports pavilion and a new teaching, learning and performance facility, primarily, but not only for music. £3.5 million Award for Cedars Development
Wells Cathedral School has received some fantastic news relating to its current building projects. The government has awarded the school a total grant of £3,500,000 from its Standards and Diversity Targeted Capital Fund to enable the school to move forward with its construction projects - the new classrooms in the Laundry Gardens site, and Cedars Hall as part of the Cedars Development project. It is one of four Specialist Music Schools supported by the Government's DCSF Music & Dance Scheme, each providing world class musical training from the elite of the profession. Wells is the only one of these schools in which its gifted musicians are trained and educated within the structure of a convential, co-educational day and boarding school of 700 pupils aged from 3-18 years.
