3rd Annual Golf Tournament

This year, the Foundation held its third annual golf tournament. The event, which took place on Friday 4th June 2010 at Wells Golf Club, was a wonderful day and the sun even shone well into the evening.

There were no hole-in-ones on the day, but there were some pretty decent scores. Richard Barnes concentrates on his final putt on the 9th green. Philip Ballan-Whitfield won two competitions - one for getting his ball nearest the pin on the 7th and another for finishing in the top four.

Martin Ashton drives off at the 13th tee - he came a very respectable second overall winning a family portrait photo donated by Really Nice Photography.

Philip Ballan-Whitfield looks to see where his drive off the 13th landed before walking off with two prizes - the best haul of the day.

Kevin Murphy beat off the rest of the competition to win overall 1st place - here he displays his winning talent on the 12th green.

Kevin Murphy accepts his first prize - a bottle of champagne which was kindly donated by Mendip Bottle. (The winners were allowed to choose their own prizes, so everyone went away happy.)

Kevin Murphy, Robbie Newman and Tony Bretherton pose for the camera mid-way round the course - the weather was perfect and the greens in top condition.

Ian Pocock accepts the prize for the longest drive of the day - he was delighted with a family voucher donated by Wookey Hole Caves.

Adrian Lawrence was pleased with his gardening hamper from Cheddar Garden Centre - which he won for coming in the top four. Team spirit ran high on the 18th after an afternoon of excellent golf - a welcome chilled beer refreshed hot and tired players in the clubhouse.

Grateful thanks also go to The Crown at Wells and Antons Bistrot and Wells Golf Club for donating meal vouchers and a golf voucher as prizes for the day.

Robbie Newman said after the event "Just a quick one to thank you both for organising a great day on Friday.  Sun was shining and a great day was had by all!"
